Coming 2026

To the nurse just starting out,

The first year is hard. Not because you are not enough, but because no one told you the truth about how it really feels. So we will.

You belong here.

with love, your future colleagues

What this book is

More than a how-to manual. A companion for the hardest, most formative year of your career, and a reminder that you were meant for this.

Every chapter meets a real challenge head on, transition shock, imposter syndrome, night shifts, hard conversations, staying whole while you care for everyone else, and pairs honest reflection with strategies you can use on your very next shift.

It does not shy away from the emotional weight of nursing. It embraces it, and it keeps circling back to one steady truth.

You're not failing. You're becoming.

A preview

A few lines from the book

From Chapter 3, When You Feel Like You Are Failing

There is a hallway you will remember for the rest of your career. Call lights going off in every direction, a provider waiting, a family with questions, a med due, and you, in the middle of it, certain that everyone can see you do not belong.

Here is what no one says out loud on that first hard shift: that feeling is not proof you are failing. It is proof you are paying attention. It is the ache of learning something that matters, in real time, with real stakes.

Give yourself the grace you would give any new nurse but yourself.

You are going to make mistakes. You are going to learn from people who are kinder than you expect, and a few who are not. And slowly, shift by shift, the hallway is going to get quieter, not because the work changed, but because you did.
